A self-hosted "command center" for the household — a shared family calendar with Google sync, chore gamification, AI meal planning, and an ambient kiosk mode for the kitchen iPad.

Overview
Inspired by the Skylight Calendar but built to do more (and run on my own terms), Family Dashboard is an all-in-one hub for the household — designed to live full-screen on a kitchen iPad and stay in sync with everyone’s phones.
What I built
- Shared calendar — two-way Google Calendar sync, color-coded per family member, with recurring events.
- Gamification — a 6-level XP system with daily and weekly quests, 15+ achievements, streaks, and confetti, to make household contribution feel rewarding.
- AI meal planning — Gemini generates recipes and then automatically consolidates and categorizes the shopping list.
- Ambient kiosk mode — a screensaver state that turns an idle tablet into a glanceable family display.
Status
At v0.9 — feature-complete for our own family’s use, with auth hardening on the roadmap before it’s something I’d hand to anyone else.
