ChoreBandits

A gamified family chore tracker with a western "wanted poster" theme — kids earn points completing "bounties," parents approve from the Sheriff's Desk, and households pair devices with a QR code.

Overview

ChoreBandits turns the daily chore battle into a game. It’s a family chore tracker dressed up as an Old West bounty board — kids are “bandits” hunting bounties, parents run the Sheriff’s Desk, and getting the dishes done earns real rewards.

What I built

  • A bounty economy — chores become bounties worth points; finished work hits an approval queue, and earned points get spent in a General Store of parent-defined rewards.
  • Kid-friendly auth — each child pairs their device with a QR code for a persistent “kid mode” session, so no kid needs a real account or password.
  • Built for real families — installable as a PWA, with recurring chores, and fully COPPA-compliant (consent logging, privacy pages, self-service household deletion).

Status

Live on Vercel and heading into private beta. Built on a modern serverless stack — Next.js, Drizzle ORM on Neon Postgres, Clerk for auth, and Playwright covering the critical flows.
